Vision
The organizers want to establish an annual sports event for organizations using sports and culture as a tool for reaching out to the youth in the community, where the youth can learn, network, and share best practise from each other. “A week in Moshi, a year in the community!”
As always, the event will feature a mixture of sports and thematic sectors.
Thematic sectors
The thematic sectors have the objective of inspiring young people to believe that they can make a difference in their respective home communities. Therefore the thematic sectors reflect the daily challenges they meet in daily life. The list of thematic sectors present at the event include:
Fit for Life – facilitated by UNESCO
Inter Faith Dialogue - facilitated by Norwegian Church Aid/Youth Interfaith Moshi
Stop Poverty Campaign - YGlobal
Transformative Masculinity Youth - YGlobal
Mental Health – YGlobal
Gender Based Violence/Gender rights - TAI Tanzania
Menstrual Hygiene Management – Angaza Kenya
Child Safeguarding – Chrisc Tanzania
Fit For life – UNESCO
Entrepreneurship – Elimu Yetu Development Organization
Media Training – YGlobal
Youth Leadership – Chrisc Tanzania
Coaching and Laws of the Game – MYSA
Culture – MYSA
Chess and Life skills – IYANNA Foundation in cooperation with FIDE (the International Chess Federation and their Infinite Chess program focusing amongst other autism).
Drugs and substance abuse training – facilitated by Centre for Sports and Growth
Sports
The sports events will football (categories boys and girls under 16 and under 13 – 7 aside football), volleyball and a pilot inclusion of basketball.
