The East Africa Cup (EAC) is an annual event aimed at empowering youth through sports, education, and community engagement. Since its inception, EAC has served as a platform for promoting peace, fostering development, and building connections among young people across East Africa and beyond. The 2025 edition will take place in Moshi, Tanzania, during the last week of June 2025, and promises to be an exciting convergence of sports, seminars, and cultural exchange.

Main Goal

The East Africa Cup seeks to inspire and equip young people to become agents of change within their communities. By combining sports with educational workshops, the event promotes values such as:

  • Leadership
  • Inclusion
  • Social responsibility

It also addresses critical issues affecting youth and their communities.


Sports Activities

Participants will engage in both competitive and friendly matches across various sports disciplines:

  • Football:
    • Fee: TZS 200,000 per team
    • Maximum: 14 participants (12 players + 2 team leaders)
  • Basketball 3x3:
    • Fee: TZS 30,000 per team
  • Chess:
    • Fee: TZS 30,000 per participant
  • Other Sports:
    Additional sports will be announced by the end of January 2025.

Boarding and Lodging for Football Teams

  • Cost: TZS 80,000 per participant for 4 days
    • Includes accommodation at Moshi Technical School, meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner), and 3 liters of water daily.

EAC 2025 will feature an extensive lineup of workshops addressing key topics for youth and community development.

  1. Stop Poverty Campaign:
    Strategies for addressing poverty and promoting economic empowerment.
    • Facilitated by: Youth Peace Makers (YPM) and Y Global Norway
  2. Transformative Masculinity:
    Exploring the role of men in promoting gender equality and ending gender-based violence.
    • Facilitated by: YPM and Y Global Norway
  3. Youth and Mental Health:
    Addressing mental health challenges and promoting mental wellness.
    • Facilitated by: YPM and Y Global Norway
  4. Gender-Based Violence:
    Strategies for prevention and promotion of gender equality.
    • Facilitated by: TAI Tanzania
  5. Menstrual Hygiene Management:
    Promoting menstrual hygiene awareness among girls and women.
    • Facilitated by: Angaza Kenya
  6. Child Safeguarding:
    Protecting children from abuse and promoting welfare based on guidelines developed with Norway Cup.
    • Facilitated by: CHRISC Tanzania
  7. Fit for Life:
    Promoting healthy lifestyles through UNESCO’s Fit for Life program.
    • Facilitated by: UNESCO
  8. Youth Leadership:
    Promoting leadership and civic engagement among youth.
    • Facilitated by: CHRISC Tanzania
  9. Coaching and Laws of the Game:
    Training on coaching techniques and football regulations.
    • Facilitated by: Mathare Youth Sports Association
  10. Referee Training:
    Building referee skills to support community sports development.
    • Facilitated by: CHRISC Tanzania
  11. Interfaith Dialogue:
    Promoting understanding and peaceful coexistence among religious groups.
    • Facilitated by: Norwegian Church Aid and Evangelical Lutheran Church of Northern Diocese Tanzania
  12. Chess and Life Skills:
    Using chess to develop critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
    • Facilitated by: IYANNA in coordination with International Chess Federation
  13. Culture:
    Leveraging drama, dance, and music to inspire action.
    • Facilitated by: Mathare Youth Sports Association and MSIMAMO (Dar es Salaam)
  14. Drugs and Substance Abuse:
    Raising awareness about the dangers and promoting prevention.
    • Facilitated by: Center for Sports and Growth
  15. Project Management:
    Equipping youth with project planning and implementation skills.
    • Facilitated by: Mind the Gap
  16. Climate Action:
    Educating youth on sustainable practices to combat climate change.
    • Facilitated by: Mind the Gap
