Join Laureus SportsLAB as they discuss the International Safeguards for Children in Sport and how to adopt them in sport and sport for development.

We believe children have the right to take part in sport in a safe, supportive, and enjoyable environment. And we know you do, too.

It’s time to get off the sidelines and stop abuse in sport from happening before it starts.

The International Safeguards for Children in Sport initiative brings together organisations from six continents. And together we aim to make sport safe for children by taking the pledge to protect children whenever and wherever they play sport, and we encourage other organisations to do the same, and by providing resources and guidance to support organisations on their safeguarding journey.

In this Laureus SportsLAB: Learning Session we will present and discuss the International Safeguards for Children in Sport in this their 10th anniversary year (2012-2022). We will discuss how to adopt them in sport and sport for development. And we will launch an online safeguarding self-assessment tool, which has been developed for organisations and club, from local community to international federations, to take the first step towards safer sport for children across the world.

We will hear from:

  • Liz Twyford, UNICEF
  • Norman Brook, Brook Sport Consulting
  • Yianni Ioannou, Tackle Africa
  • Julia Schilling, Laureus Germany

The session will be moderated by Morten Schmidt, Global Director of Programmes and Grants and Safeguarding Lead at Laureus Sport for Good.
