A discussion aimed at exploring how Sport for Protection programs can address the mental health and psychosocial support needs of refugees and host communities.

EVENT TIME: 24 May 2024, 11:00-13:00 CEST

In humanitarian work, the use of the arts – music, visual arts, dance, and theatre – is emerging as a powerful tool for promoting protection, resilience, and well-being among vulnerable populations. Similarly, Sport for Protection programmes can support the mental health and psychosocial wellbeing of young people who are experiencing psychosocial distress arising from violence, loss, separation, fear and uncertainty.

This discussion will explore how sports and arts can address the mental health and psychosocial support needs of refugees, while at the same time promoting social cohesion and inclusion into host communities. It will serve as a platform for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and advocacy, fostering a deeper appreciation for the transformative power of arts and sports in promoting wellbeing within refugee communities.
