Webinar: Exploring the risks of trafficking and exploitation of children in e-sports

Fri, 25 November 2022, 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM CET
In this presentation, Mission 89's student research team at IHEID will present their findings thus far on the potential of child exploitation and trafficking in the e-sports industry.
There is a plethora of evidence that exploitation and trafficking of children occurs through traditional sports (e.g. football, baseball, hockey) - however there is virtually no evidence or concern over such offences happening in e-sports.
As e-sports becomes an increasingly profitable, popular and mainstream avenue for competitive sporting, it is important that the most well-informed safeguarding measures accompany it, so that it does not share some of the tragic history that it's traditional sports counterparts have experienced.
