Women in the Mountains Film Festival (Festival de films Femmes en Montagne)

13-16 November 2025 | Find out more
The goal of the Femmes en Montagne Festival is to increase the visibility of women both in front of and behind the camera. It aims to inspire greater gender diversity in the mountains and promote gender equality by showcasing stories of women who thrive, push their limits, rise again, and empower themselves — all through the lens of mountain life.
In 2024, the Festival became the first mountain film festival to be fully accessible to Deaf and hard-of-hearing audiences, thanks to systematic French subtitles for all films and live interpretation of on-stage discussions into French Sign Language (LSF). The days are also punctuated by workshops that go beyond cinema, offering true spaces for empowerment.
The Festival is also available online, allowing these powerful stories and role models to reach beyond Annecy and inspire viewers from the comfort of their homes.
The Festival positions itself as a major cultural event, blending cinema, sport, and social engagement. Through its diverse programming, interactive workshops, and outreach initiatives, it helps bring new narratives to light while making cinema accessible to all — including those typically distant from traditional cultural offerings.
An online version of the festival is also available until January 5, offering the chance to discover the films on replay from the comfort of home.
