Beyond Sport is looking for a Grants and Programs Manager to support the seamless implementation of grant funding and capacity build programs. Deadline: 17 February 2023.

Role summary 

Beyond Sport’s Grants and Programs Manager will be responsible for supporting the seamless implementation of grant funding and capacity build programs. The Program Manager will work alongside Beyond Sport’s Programs team in London, UK and serve as the US Programs lead on a number of new and exciting initiatives. 

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a truly global organization. The selected candidate will collaborate with the wider Beyond Sport team in both the US and the UK. Reporting into the Director of Programs (London, UK) the Programs Manager will lead operations for a variety of partner programs in addition to Beyond Sport-owned funds. 

Responsibilities

Programs management 

  • Be the voice of the Programs team in the US for internal and partner meetings 
  • Manage the grant application process from start to finish for select funds, including but not limited to: design of application, application assessment, funding recommendations, due diligence, budgeting, MEL, and program reporting 
  • Engage Board of Trustees in grantmaking process and identify suitable opportunities to report back on impact 
  • Manage program-specific budgets and produce financial updates for Director of Programs and Executive Director 
  • Lead program data collection, collation, and analysis before compiling program reports for partners 
  • Collaborate with the Communications team (in the US and UK) to track and provide info on partner and beneficiary activities, impact and stories for use in storytelling content creation  
  • Collaborate with the Development team on requests for donors and prospects as needed  
  • Lead communications with global network of grant applicants/recipients 
  • Work cross-functionally with Finance, Development, and Communications teams 

Project management 

  • Manage the database and CRM to ensure program data is updated in real time  
  • Research capacity building needs and opportunities across nonprofit network 
  • Ensure the inclusion of Beyond Sport’s monitoring and evaluation metrics in program-specific data collection and reporting  
  • Support US-based research for new funding proposals 
  • Support the creation of impact storytelling for fundraising in support of Beyond Sport-owned funds 
  • Work with Programs team colleagues to identify trends, challenges and opportunities for growth  

Additional roles 

  • Research to enable deliverables to clients 
  • Liaise with designers and consultants around final deliverables to partners 
  • Support in development and design of strategy presentations to partners (sourcing images, quotes, key outcomes, general research) 
  • Logistical and operations support during key events (venue sourcing and recces within NYC area, delegate support, general support during event itself) 

Requirements 

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a charity or foundation with focus on development and working with grantees 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills  
  • Analytical and problem‐solving skills 
  • Ability to communicate effectively 
  • Empathetic to partners’ priorities and objectives 
  • Tremendous attention to detail 
  • A highly organized approach to all tasks and projects 
  • A creative mind and a “think-outside-the-box” attitude  
  • Able to work efficiently, quickly, and to deadline – there is an immediacy element to our office that runs through everything we do 
  • Reliable and punctual  
  • Action oriented and the desire to go above and beyond the status quo 
  • Commitment and belief in the ability of sport to create social change 
  • Ability to work independently and without micro-management - our team is small and an expectation to work independently and being able problem-solve on your own is essential.

  • Knowledge of the sport for development world and experience in speaking about it to a wider audience 
  • Proficiency with Excel 
  • Experience using CRMs 
  • Additional languages
