Understanding the experience of founders will help to improve support infrastructure for social entrepreneurs and the sustainability of early-stage Sport for Development and Peace (SDP) organizations. Eligible participants will receive a $100 USD gift card for taking the time to participate.

Who are we?

The principal investigator is Dr. Per Svensson at Louisiana State University who has worked with hundreds of local organizations to study organizational development and innovation in the Sport for Development field over the past 12 years. The co-investigator is Olga Khokhryakova who is conducting this research as part of her PhD thesis. Olga is a social entrepreneur, a former Fulbright Scholar, who is building on her own experiences in the sport for good field to study the startup process and the early stages of organizational development.

Incentive

Eligible participants will receive a gift card in the value of $100 USD at the conclusion of the data collection period.

What will you be asked to do?

Data collection includes two interviews via Zoom over a six-month period and individual submission of brief weekly audio diary recordings.

Who can participate?

Participants should be at least 18 years old and be in the process of starting and/or developing an initiative with the purpose of delivering social impact using sport and/or physical activities. Participants should have access to the internet but there are no limits on geographical location.

Why is this research conducted?

The findings from this study are expected to provide important insights that can help to develop more effective and purposeful ways for supporting aspiring and early-stage social entrepreneurs in the field of SDP. This study will also help in identifying what funding agencies, policymakers, and other external stakeholders can do to advance the field and better support organizational development and sustainability of SDP initiatives.

This study has been approved by the LSU Institutional Review Board. Participants may choose not to participate or to withdraw from the study at any time. The results of the study may be published, but no names or identifying information will be included.
