About the role
We are looking for a motivated and results-oriented leader to serve as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of CoolPlay. The ideal candidate will be an advocate for youth development who possesses a deep understanding of the NGO sector with a passion for sport being advantageous.
The CEO and the small staff are all home based, but meet regularly.
The successful candidate will be Cape Town based. A high level of self-discipline is required with a strong ability to initiate projects and see them through to completion. Due to the nature of the work, it is important that the CEO is comfortable and confident communicating at all levels. The role offers flexibility in remote work and predetermined office days for key staff and stakeholder engagements.
The CEO will be responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, and operational management of the organization and will involve:
● Developing and implementing a comprehensive strategic plan aligned with CoolPlay's mission and goals.
● Building and maintaining strong partnerships with community and corporate partners and donors.
● Driving effective and diverse fundraising initiatives.
● Leading the operational team while fostering a culture where they can perform their best.
● Representing CoolPlay at various platforms and building awareness of the organisation through networks and all external communications.
● Coordinating and leading annual budget reviews, monthly and quarterly reviews, and periodic forecast updates with operational and senior management.
● Taking the lead on the governance of the organisation and liaising with the Advisory Board.
Qualifications and Experience
● Proven track record in a senior position within or leading a non-profit organization or a relevant sector.
● Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
● Demonstrated experience in fundraising, grant writing, and donor relations.
● In-depth knowledge of the non-profit sector and the challenges faced by youth in South Africa.
● Strong financial acumen and experience in managing budgets and resources.
● Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
