Director of Development USA Basketball Foundation
Position Summary:
The Director of Development is responsible for crafting and executing strategic plans to achieve the Foundation’s annual fundraising goals, with a focus on securing major gifts. This role reports directly to the Chief Development Officer (CDO) and works collaboratively to drive a robust fundraising strategy that supports the Foundation’s long-term growth and impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Major Gifts: Secure significant donations (6-figure & above) to support the Foundation’s mission.
- Revenue Diversification: Implement strategic fundraising initiatives to expand financial support from individuals, corporations, foundations, and other sources to ensure sustainable revenue.
- Reporting: Provide regular (weekly, monthly, and ad hoc) updates to the CDO regarding fundraising status.
- Prospect Cultivation: Partner with the CDO to identify and engage new potential donors.
- Donor Management: Ensure accurate recording of donor information, financial accountability, and secure data management; collaborate with the Finance department for regular reconciliation.
- Budget Management: Assist the CDO and finance team in creating and overseeing the Foundation’s budget.
- Additional Duties: Perform other related tasks as assigned.
Desired Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in nonprofit fundraising/development or a similar field, with proven success in major gifts, annual funds, corporate and foundation giving, and event fundraising.
- Skills:
- Strong track record of measurable results in fundraising.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently.
- Experience with donor databases, prospect research, and wealth screening tools—Salesforce experience is a plus.
- Outstanding organizational and time management abilities.

Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary: $100,000 annually
- Location: Full-time, based at National Headquarters in Colorado Springs, Colorado
