The Journal of Sport for Development is looking for a suitable candidate to serve as their new co-editor for a three-year term. Deadline: 2 January 2023.

The Journal of Sport for Development (JSFD) is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified individuals for the role of co-editor.

The Journal of Sport for Development (JSFD) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal. JSFD’s mission is to advance, examine, and disseminate evidence and best practices for programs and interventions that use sport to promote development, health, and/or peace. JSFD is guided by leadership from the JSFD editors and editorial board.

Since 2015, the editorial board of JSFD has been under the leadership of three coeditors, to provide a breadth of research and methodological expertise across the complex field of SFD. One position will become vacant in early 2023 and JSFD is looking to appoint a new co-editor for the next three-year term.

Co-editors oversee the screening and reviewing of submissions and work closely with the Managing Editor to ensure the efficient and effective handling of manuscripts through to publication. The editorial team is responsible for setting and maintaining the editorial direction of JSFD, ensuring a high quality and rigorous review process and governing the work of the Editorial Board.

Essential criteria:

• Extensive experience in academic editing and publishing, together with awareness of issues associated with editing an international journal

• A strong reputation in research and publication in sport for development or related disciplines in the social sciences

• Demonstrated expertise in project management

• Demonstrated commitment to the values and goals of JSFD

Please note that the EOI should be a maximum of 2 pages followed by an up-to-date 2- page curriculum vitae. JSFD leadership, including current co-editors Per Svensson and Meredith Whitley, invite applicants to highlight how they may add diversity to the editorial team in terms of: (a) training and education; (b) research, monitoring, evaluation, and learning experiences and perspectives; (c) personal history; (d) life experiences; and/or (e) sociocultural positionings.

Applications by email to:

Alessio Norrito, JSFD Managing Editor, [email protected]

Deadline for EOI submissions: 2 January, 2023

* If you are interested in having your application considered for the other vacant JSFD volunteer roles (managing editor and/or copy editor), please indicate this in your cover letter and rank which position(s) you are most interested in. We encourage you to tailor your application to the position you are most interested in.
