The JSFD Editorial Board is seeking for a new copy editor, to commence in February 2023 for a two-year term. Deadline: 2 January 2023

The Journal of Sport for Development (JSFD) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal. JSFD’s mission is to advance, examine, and disseminate evidence and best practices for programs and interventions that use sport to promote development, health and/or peace.

JSFD seeks original submissions from researchers, implementers, policy makers, funders, and other stakeholders in sport for development. This includes experts and young researchers in public health, education, gender equity, disability, youth development, economics, and conflict. All manuscripts must be submitted online and undergo a rigorous peer review process. All JSFD articles and volumes are made freely available online to the public.

The JSFD Editorial Board is seeking expressions of interest for a new copy editor, to commence in February 2023 for a two-year term. The selected individual will receive an onboarding training facilitated by the outgoing copy editor. We welcome applications from all interested and suitably qualified parties.

The copy editor is responsible for leading the editing process for manuscripts that have undergone the peer review process and been accepted for publication by JSFD. The role’s primary function is to ensure the accuracy and consistency of manuscript grammar, punctuation, spelling, and reference formatting, as well as adherence to the JSFD style guide (APA style 7th Edition).

Required skills and experience include:

• Experience and expertise in editing research manuscripts

• Superior attention to detail

• Excellent communication skills

• Strong time management skills, including the ability to meet deadlines

• Ability to work independently while also collaborating in a remote team environment

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience undertaking sport for development research

• Current or completed PhD in a related discipline

• Solid knowledge of and experience using APA style

As with all positions at JSFD, the copy editor is a voluntary role. The time commitmentfor this role is expected to be approximately 5-7 hours per month. This position will work closely with the managing editor and layout editor of JSFD.
