Job summary
Kids Play International seeks a Cambodia field-based Program Coordinator passionate about sport for social change. This position is for someone inspired to work in a rural village, helping promote gender equity and mental strength through sport. The ideal candidate has exceptional public speaking skills, strong background in coach training, train-the-trainer and workshop facilitation. Experience with mentorship and cultivating the leadership and professional development abilities of others. Additionally, the candidate is someone who has lived in a developing country, is a self-starter who works well independently and as part of a team, and understands how sport and play can promote mental wellness and gender equity to shift and break down harmful socio-cultural norms. Excellent organizational, communication and critical thinking skills are essential. The selected candidate will be required to work full-time at Kids Play International's program site in Siem Reap, Cambodia.

Job responsibilities
The overall responsibilities include weekly coach capacity training, on our standardized curriculum and comprehensive oversight of observing and evaluating Kids Play International’s flagship Let’s Play Fair gender equality and sports program—a year-round after-school program for 200 children and youth, and year-round Play Fair Community Day—a once-per-week program targeted at youth and adults in the community. Sports include frisbee, lacrosse, baseball, American football, volleyball, and athletics. Moreover, the Program Coordinator is also responsible for marketing and facilitating Kids Play International’s Play Fair Coach Workshop to local partners, planning and executing special events throughout the year, leading coach and youth professional development training, networking with local partners, conducting required activities within awarded grants, building more profound impact with our partner schools and parents and collecting data and reporting on all programs.

Primary duties and responsibilities include (but not limited to):
Programs support

  • Evaluate the Let’s Play Fair and Play Fair Community Day programs on a weekly basis, using a critical eye to assess coach program delivery, provide positive and critical feedback and overall program effectiveness and impact.
  • Conduct weekly coach capacity training sessions for the Let’s Play Fair program, with a strong focus on building all coaches’ confidence and mastery around Kids Play International’s coaching methodology and content within the organization’s existing curriculum framework.
  • Plan and execute at least five Play Fair Community Days per year that involve an outside community partner that complements Kids Play International’s gender equity work.
  • Deliver quality and ongoing curriculum and professional development training to Kids Play International’s coaching staff.
  • Learn, practice and facilitate Kids Play International's Play Fair Workshop to other local NGOs (coaches/teachers/youth workers).
  • Oversee school giving programs and cultivate parent relationships.
  • Implement monitoring, evaluation and learning activities as outlined in awarded grant funding.

Monitoring, evaluation, and learning

  • Attend all Let’s Play Fair and Play Fair Community Day programming, and coach professional development sessions and complete observation reports for all sessions.
  • Provide positive and constructive feedback to improve Coach delivery of curriculum.
  • Assist in collecting and organizing program attendance, school attendance, school grades, exam scores on a regular basis.
  • Conduct surveys, observations and focus group discussions as they pertain to the monitoring and evaluation of activities outlined in awarded grant funding.
  • Write weekly and quarterly internal reports and assist with external grant reports pertaining to the specific grant deliverables outlined for the Let’s Play Fair and Play Fair Community Day programs.
  • Ensure all programs are completed within the allotted time frame and are in-line with the organizational policies and procedures.

Business development

  • Maintain weekly Social Media (KPI Facebook, Instagram, Linked In, YouTube and Twitter) as it pertains to programming.
  • Help capture ongoing photographs, videos, and testimonials of participants and coaches for social media, website, and funding purposes.
  • Serve as a Kids Play representative for the organization in partnership meetings and site visits.
  • Liaises and collaborates with government partners, NGOs and other networks to bring resources and services to the communities we serve

Child Protection and Safeguarding

  • A strong commitment to child protection and safeguarding, ensuring all staff members understand and abide by Kids Play International’s Safeguarding Policies and Procedures.
  • Ensure all staff understand Kids Play International’s reporting pathways; liaise between the coaches and the Country Manager for any related safeguarding issues.
  • Work with the Country Manager to ensure the Safeguarding Policies and Procedures are current and updated regularly.
  • Support the Country Manager in leading quarterly safeguarding training sessions to all staff.

Qualifications
Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 2 years (Ideally more!) working experience at an international level with humanitarian NGOs or operational UN agencies or 1-2 years of field experience in challenging environments.
  • Strong understanding of how sport is integrated into sports activities and conversations to promote gender equity, mental strength, etc.
  • Proven experience developing and training coaches on stong delivery of programs, strong facilitation skills
  • Proven experience in project management, including budget expenditure, data collection, report writing, and staff management.
  • Preferable experience and strong interest in the areas of sport for development, gender equity, women’s empowerment, and public health.
  • Ability to empower, mentor and train local staff.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • High degree of computer literacy.
