Upshot is looking for a Business Development and Account Manager to to roll out the Upshot system to voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise organisations in the London borough of Barnet.

Having grown rapidly since our launch in 2012, we are looking for a highly motivated person to join our team to deliver the Upshot system and our Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) support to the not-for-profit sector.

Originally developed by the Football Foundation – The Premier League, The FA and Government’s charity, Upshot was designed to manage, monitor and evidence community projects. We set up as an independent Community Interest Company (CIC) in 2021 and the platform is now being used by over 1,400 third-sector organisations, in the UK and internationally - ranging from local government, youth work and community centres to the criminal justice system, national governing bodies of sport and sport for development programmes, theatres and arts centres, education institutions and wildlife conservation.

This role will be leading on an exciting project to roll out the Upshot system to Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise organisations in the London Borough of Barnet. The Business Development and Account Manager will be working closely with two membership networks over a two-year project period to introduce and onboard up to 150 of their member organisations onto the platform and enable them to use it effectively to evidence their work. This will be a new way of working for many organisations in Barnet and the role holder will really be able to influence and shape the take up of Upshot within the area. The role will focus on the project for three days a week in Year 1, and two days in Year 2.  During the rest of the week, they will be working within Upshot’s Business Development team working on programmes and with clients throughout the UK and beyond.

This role will be trained and supported both by the experienced Upshot team and our partners in Barnet to perform end-to-end support for the member organisations – from marketing the system and the project offer and demonstrating the tool to interested prospects to configuring and setting up the clients’ Upshot accounts, delivering training to users and responding to support queries. Work at Upshot is varied and flexible and as part of a small team of twelve people, there is also a lot of potential to specialise in various aspects of running an innovative tech start-up. Our range of clients allows for significant exposure to the wider third sector and the chance to build a strong network of relationships.

As a social enterprise, all our profits are reinvested back into our business, our product and our community. We love what we do and are looking for people who are confident, out-going and enthusiastic about meeting new people and building strong relationships. You will need to be a highly effective communicator, have strong attention to detail, be comfortable with Excel and online systems and have a willingness to learn quickly on the job. The successful candidate will embrace the challenge of leading on a new project and a new way of working for Upshot and our project partners in Barnet.

You will be rewarded by working within a dedicated vibrant team and have excellent opportunities to develop your skills and experience, all while having the satisfaction of helping hundreds of charities evidence their impact. Our benefits include a wonderful social atmosphere, passionate people, a generous pension scheme, health care provision, a gym subsidy, 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), and flexible working hours.

In short, it is a fantastic opportunity to make a major contribution to one of the most innovative online systems in the not-for-profit sector and immerse yourself in London’s biggest borough.
