The International Centre of Martial Arts (ICM) has instituted a new award to develop and promote the educational value of martial arts.

The ICM Martial Arts Education Prize honours outstanding contribution made by individuals or organizations to promote community development and engagement through martial arts, especially focusing on youth and women.

The ICM Martial Arts Education Prize, established by UNESCO ICM in 2021, aims to develop and promote the educational value of martial arts.

UNESCO ICM calls for your active participation!

Who can apply?

The award is open to individuals, organizations and other entities who have contributed to communities’ development and engagement through martial arts education.

Applicants must submit evidence-based materials on their activities and letter of recommendation received from relevant organizations.

UNESCO ICM particularly encourages applications from those who have contributed to one or more of the following four development areas through martial arts education:

  • Empowering youth to overcome adversities
  • Encouraging social engagement of women
  • Securing communities’ safe and inclusive environment
  • Other contributions made for positive changes in the community

The award

The award consists of a cash prize to the winner of US$ 10,000. The applications will open in July 2021 (TBD), and applications must be submitted on the online platform that will open on ICM’s official webpage.
