Beyond Sport is asking for social media users to let them know about organisations and individuals who have gone #BeyondTheDivide in their efforts to use sport to tackle cultural and economic divisions.

Reflecting on recent events that have affected people across the world, this year’s theme for the Beyond Sport Summit and Awards is “Beyond the Divide” and Beyond Sport has just launched its #BeyondTheDivide campaign.

The third day of the summit (From Local to Global) will feature four high-profile sessions which will look at the key areas of conflict where sport can play a role: from local communities to the geo-political. Through panels, interviews and engaging talks, day three will explore how sport is addressing conflict, but also where it can and must do more to reduce ignorance and bridge religious, racial, ethnic and social and economic divides.

#BeyondTheDivide will also underpin content across the summit, creating focused discussion around the challenges faced relevant to the various topics discussed by the range of speakers and stakeholders at the event. The campaign has been designed to recognise and celebrate people and organisations from across the globe who have gone #BeyondTheDivide in their efforts to use sport as a platform to tackle some of the cultural and economic divisions affecting the world. Beyond Sport are therefore asking people to submit names of people within their organisations, or even organisations as a whole who are addressing this theme. These could be anyone from global sport stars to programme leaders. Beyond Sport is also asking for:

  • The project they have worked on
  • A picture of the individual who has gone #BeyondTheDivide
  • How they have gone #BeyondTheDivide
  • Individual and project twitter handles

This information will then be used to create info-graphics will be shared through Beyond Sport's social media channels to highlight sport's role in breaking down and bridging divides.
