ChildFund celebrates IDSDP 2021

For IDSDP this year, ChildFund is are launching a social media campaign that highlights the intentional use of sport as a tool to equip children and young people to adapt and overcome challenges in time of uncertainty.
In response to the pandemic situation, ChildFund Sport for Development developed Reconnect, a curriculum that incorporates a number of changes around delivery modalities (different stages for different physical distancing measures), hygiene and COVID information from the government, and content which supports children and young people to adapt and respond to the challenges caused by COVID-19.
There is a need for increased and flexible investment into sport for development. Sport for development programs can tackle many societal challenges posed by the pandemic, inlcuding social isolation, the erosion of peer support networks and risky behaviours. Sport can build skills to support positive decision making and to deal with the world in a time of change.
Thus, this IDSDP, we hope the world takes note of the power of sport in helping build back better after going through a global pandemic.
