To celebrate our 200th newsletter, we are calling for submissions on the future of sport and development.

27 September will mark the 200th sportanddev.org newsletter. Our first newsletter was published in October 2017. Since then, we have watched the sport and development community evolve and grow. This period has included the inauguration of an International Day of Sport for Development and Peace and the mentioning of “sport as an enabler of development” in the sustainable development goals.

To celebrate our 200th newsletter, we are encouraging the community to look forward to the future of sport and development, not only internationally but also where you live. Our question is: How do you see sport and development evolving in your country or community in the next eight years (200 newsletters from now) and what will the sector look like in 2025? Some other questions to consider might be:

  • What will the evolution of sport and development look like, at the policy level and/or through participation in grassroots movements?
  • What do you hope to see more or less of in the future?
  • Which topics in particular do you see sport and development addressing in your country in the next eight years?

We are calling on representatives from all sectors (development agencies, governments, sport sector, universities, private sector) and countries to reflect on these questions and share your thoughts on sportanddev.org.

Responses will be shared on our website and YouTube page, and appear in the 200th newsletter.

How to participate

To join in the discussion, you can either:

  1. Record a brief video of yourself answering the above question(s)
  2. Or write your answer (400 words maximum)

For both options, please include your name and where you are from. Send your videos and written responses by email to Carrie Oillaux on [email protected].

The deadline for responses is 24 September 2017.
