Girls United's International Women’s Day #AccelerateAction Tournament & Conference

Established in 2022, Lloyd’s Women’s Football Club comprises professionals from the London insurance market, uniting to challenge industry stereotypes and promote inclusivity through sport. This collaboration exemplifies their commitment to empowering women and girls in both professional and personal spheres, supporting over 1,000 girls to play actively across the season at Girls United programmes.
IWD 2025: Accelerate Action
The IWD 2025 theme, “Accelerate Action,” underscores the urgent need for progress. Current estimates suggest it will take 134 years to achieve full gender parity—roughly five generations from now. This campaign aims to challenge that timeline by demonstrating the economic, cultural, and societal value of investing in women’s sport today.
Amwins Global Risks and Everest Insurance International®, in partnership with Lloyd’s Women’s Football Club, will support the flagship tournament and conference, championing inclusivity and professional opportunities for women in sport. With 85% of women who played sports citing its impact on their career success, this initiative highlights the vital role of sport in empowering future leaders.

Likewise, we are committed to providing opportunities for women and girls, both professionally and in their personal development. That’s why we’ve teamed up with Lloyd’s Women’s Football Club to sponsor the Girls United International Women’s Day campaign this year; a football tournament and a panel session that each speak to the value of women in sport.”
Everest Insurance International®: “At Everest Insurance International®, we believe in championing resilience, teamwork, and inclusion—values that are at the heart of both our business and the Lloyd’s Women’s Football Club. Our sponsorship reflects our commitment to supporting the industries we serve, fostering talent, and strengthening the wider insurance community. As we navigate risk with expertise and confidence, we are proud to support a team that embodies dedication, excellence, and the power of collaboration.”
Girls United's Perspective
Romina Calatayud, Founder and CEO of Girls United: “As women’s football has grown, so has our tournament – we can’t get enough pitches to fit all the teams that sign up these days. It is a testament to how the community of women playing grassroots football understands the value of football in their lives, beyond the pitch. Lloyd’s Women’s Football Club are the role models we want for our girls—women smashing it in their careers and using football as a tool for empowerment.”
The IWD tournament and conference represent an opportunity to advocate for the growth of grassroots football in parallel with the professional game, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility at all levels.
