The G100 Sports Empowerment & Championships Wing, led by Ms Mapulane Phohleli from Lesotho, proudly launches an inspiring global movement: Skipathon Challenge – Jump for Change! Running from March 21 to April 21, this initiative unites women and girls worldwide in a vibrant celebration of strength, creativity, and resilience, using the power of sport to drive meaningful change.

Sport as a Catalyst for Social Change

The Skipathon Challenge is more than just a fitness activity. It’s a movement dedicated to amplifying women's voices and championing gender equality through sport. The movement showcases how sport fosters inclusion, leadership, and social impact by uniting participants around a simple yet powerful symbol, the skipping rope.

Goals of the Skipathon Challenge

  • Promote sport and an active lifestyle as tools for empowerment, inspiring connection, solidarity, and self-confidence among women worldwide.
  • Raise awareness about the G100 Sports Empowerment & Championships Wing and its mission to uplift women in sports.

How to Join the Skipathon Challenge

  • Grab a skipping rope – or get creative and make your own! Use repurposed materials like old t-shirts, fabric strips, or natural fibers to craft a unique skipping rope.
  • Capture the energy! Take photos and videos of women in action, showcasing their spirit, strength, and determination.
  • Share inspiring stories of women in your sports community – highlighting their achievements, creativity, and resilience.
  • Tag @CountryChairsSportsEmpowermentG100 on Facebook.
  • Record your jumps and share them using #G100JumpForChange to inspire others globally.

Statement from Ms Mapulane Phohleli, Global Chair of the G100 Sports Empowerment & Championships Wing

”Skipping rope is not just a physical exercise; it is an act of empowerment. Through this challenge, we aim to:

  • Promote health and well-being, ensuring that women and girls have access to active lifestyles that boost confidence and physical strength.
  • Break barriers and stereotypes, proving that women and girls belong in all spaces, including sports and leadership.
  • Foster community engagement, bringing people together from diverse backgrounds to advocate for equality and inclusion.
  • Build resilience and self-confidence, inspiring young girls to dream big and work towards their goals with determination.

As we take part in this Skipathon Challenge, let every jump remind us that empowerment is a movement, not just a moment. Every turn of the rope symbolizes breaking barriers, lifting voices, and unlocking opportunities for women and girls across the world.  Together, let’s jump for a healthier future, a more equal society, and a world where every woman and girl can rise to her full potential.Let’s jump for change. Let’s jump for empowerment. Let’s jump for a better world! ”
