The Association of National Pierre de Coubertin Committees of Africa launched its International Training Course for Olympic Educators on 22 October 2022.

The program, which is the first of the kind, has mobilized more than 30 participants. The program was held by Visio conference on Google Meet and registered the participation of National Pierre de Coubertin Committee representatives from Africa and Latin America.

Professor Nelson TODT (CIPC Vice-President), Mrs. Elvira RAMINI (Secretary General of the CIPC), Professor Marion KEIM LEES (Secretary General of the Association of National Pierre de Coubertin Committees of Africa and President of the South Africa Pierre de Coubertin Committee) and Mrs. Amita BOOLAUKY (Youth Officer of Coubertin Africa and Vice-President of Mauritius Pierre de Coubertin Committee) were the lecturers of the inaugural session of the course, and taught participants on the following topics:

  • Olympism and the importance of Olympic educators for National Pierre de Coubertin Committees
  • History of Olympism and of the life of Pierre de Coubertin
  • The work of Pierre de Coubertin and that of the CIPC
  • Youth and Olympism; inspiring young people as agents of change

The session was moderated by Professor Christo de CONING, the Development officer of Coubertin Africa.

Dr. EVELE Malik Atour, Member of the International Pierre de Coubertin Committee and President of the Association of National Pierre de Coubertin Committees of Africa chaired a workshop for Board Members of Coubertin Africa, after the inaugural session of the International Training Course for Olympic Educators.

The purpose of the workshop was to make a clear evaluation of the inaugural session of the program and to discuss details on the implementation of the upcoming sessions.

During the workshop, Members of the Board had the occasion to express their satisfaction on the conduct of this.

The President of Coubertin Africa emphasized on the importance of the participation of all National Pierre de Coubertin Committees and expressed his gratitude and appreciation to National Pierre de Coubertin Committees of Latin America and their President, Professor Daniel DE LA CUEVA, for their massive participation in the course that has contributed to a resounding success.

Finally, President EVELE thanked Professor Nelson TODT and Mrs. Elvira RAMINI from the CIPC for their participation and support to the program.
