The Lalbagh Chess Championship 2025
The Lalbagh Chess Championship 2025, a major event of the Lalbagh Sports Carnival Season 2, commenced with great enthusiasm as over 200 students participated in an intense battle of strategy and intellect. The championship was inaugurated by Ln. Dr. Shanju Kumar Sarker, MJF, who highlighted the importance of chess in enhancing cognitive skills and decision-making abilities.

Dhaka, Bangladesh, February 25, 2025 – The Lalbagh Sports Carnival 2025 (Season 2) officially kicked off today with the highly anticipated Lalbagh Chess Championship, an event that showcased the strategic minds of over 200 students. The competition opened with great energy, with participants from various schools and backgrounds coming together to engage in a battle of intellect and wit.

The event was inaugurated by Ln. Dr. Shanju Kumar Sarker, MJF, who declared the championship open for all students, emphasizing the significance of mental sports like chess in enhancing cognitive abilities and fostering concentration. In his speech, Dr. Sarker encouraged students to develop both physical and mental endurance through such activities.

Under the watchful eye of Acting Principal Innamul Hasan, who spoke about the importance of maintaining a balanced life between academics and extracurricular activities, the competition unfolded with intensity. Abu Syed, the school’s sports teacher, was present to observe the matches and ensure fair play, keeping the spirit of the game alive throughout the rounds.

The standout feature of today’s event was the overwhelming participation of 200+ students, each bringing their unique strategies to the board. From aggressive openings to intricate mid-game tactics and carefully crafted endgames, the players displayed exceptional skill and determination.

The semi-finals and finals for the Lalbagh Chess Championship are set to take place tomorrow, where the top players will compete for the coveted title. As the event progresses, the anticipation builds for the conclusion of this exciting competition.

The event is being led by Ln. Mizanul Haque Prince, the Founder of the "Let’s Bring Back Students to Sports Again" campaign and Chairman of the Lalbagh Sports Carnival. His commitment to promoting sports among students has been pivotal in bringing this competition to life. He expressed gratitude to the participants, organizers, and sponsors for making the event a success.
