Launch of the Martial Arts Open School Project in Brazil

On July 6th, the Jadir Taekwondo Association (AJTKD), in partnership with the International Centre of Martial Arts for Youth Development and Engagement under the auspices of UNESCO (UNESCO ICM), launched the Martial Arts Open School project at Madureira Park in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This initiative aims to benefit 200 participants from underprivileged communities in Rio, providing them with the opportunity to engage in taekwondo training.
The project is designed to promote physical fitness, discipline, and self-esteem among young people and community members. By offering comprehensive training sessions, mentorship, and support, the program seeks to equip participants with both martial arts skills and essential life skills.
Danilo, the Administrative Director at AJTKD, expressed enthusiasm for the project: "Our collaboration with UNESCO ICM underscores the importance of sports in fostering sustainable development and community cohesion. We are confident that the Martial Arts Open School will have a positive impact on the lives of our participants."
AJTKD, known for its mission to use taekwondo as a tool for social inclusion and environmental sustainability, has received international recognition for its efforts. In 2022, the organization was honored with the BBC Green Sport Award, highlighting its commitment to integrating eco-friendly practices into its sports programs.
The Martial Arts Open School project aims to reach underserved communities in Rio de Janeiro, offering them access to quality sports education and opportunities. As the project kicks off, it stands as a testament to the power of partnerships and the role of sports in driving positive social change.
