'Smart, green and sustainable' Hangzhou Asian Games

Qiu Peihuang, the Director of the Venues Department of the Games Organizing Committee, told CGTN that the construction of venues for the multi-sport Games fully embodies the concepts of green, smart, thrifty and culture.
"Among the 56 venues, only 12 are newly built, and the rest of the venues are rebuilt and temporarily built. All of our electricity is green electricity. All venues must use green electricity during the competition," Qiu was quoted as saying.
"During the construction process, BIM (Building Information Modeling) technology was used from design, construction to operation and maintenance, and we also use special tracing technology to monitor the whole construction process.
"This smart technology will allows us to trace back even after the games to ensure the construction quality of the entire venue, which is also the most important application of the smart technology."
Qiu also shared that many of the venues will be reused after the Games.
"On one hand, many venues will become fitness centers for citizens in some areas, and on the other hand, many venues will cooperate with commercial companies," he added.
