Malaysia, through its Youth and Sports Ministry, commemorated the 40th Anniversary of the Look East Policy (LEP) by jointly organising games with the South Korean community in Malaysia through the Republic of Korea Embassy and the Korean Sports Council in Malaysia on 10 September in Kuala Lumpur.

The event, held at the Juara Stadium in Bukit Kiara, Kuala Lumpur, aimed to fortify ties between Malaysia and South Korea through sports and cultural exchange.

Those present at the event were Chung Suk Kyoon, Consul General of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Malaysia, Lee Won Kyu, chairman of the Korean Sports Council in Malaysia and Malaysia's Youth and Sports Minister, Hannah Yeoh.

"Our participation reaffirms the enduring diplomatic relations between our countries," said Chung.

"We hope that our presence will further solidify the bond between our nations. Diplomatic relations include people-to-people connections, and this event highlights the importance of such interactions."

The Look East Policy, initially launched to gain knowledge of best practices from East Asian countries like South Korea, has not only achieved its goals but has also evolved into a platform for celebrating the enduring friendship and collaboration between Malaysia and South Korea.

Among the competitions held were wushu, the Korean martial arts Geum-Do, futsal and badminton.
