sport positive report 2023
Sport Positive has released a new report detailing environmental sustainability efforts of all 20 Premier League clubs.

This report, available since May 9, 2024, in London, covers thirteen categories such as energy, transport, waste, water, plastics, food, and biodiversity, as well as commitments, policies, reporting, communication, education, procurement, and sponsorship.

Key findings include:

- Three clubs have external accreditation for their sustainability efforts.
- Five clubs are UNFCCC Sports for Climate Action signatories.
- Six clubs have net zero targets and onsite clean energy generation.
- Seven clubs have sustainable transport policies.
- Eight clubs have environmental brand identities.
- Nine clubs reuse rainwater or groundwater.
- Fifteen clubs have building management systems for resource efficiency.
- Sixteen clubs divert 100% of waste from landfill.
- All clubs offer vegan food options.

The report, marking five years of benchmarking, highlights progress and areas needing improvement. Users can search by club or category through a hyperlinked contents page.

The Premier League's recent Environmental Sustainability Commitment mandates all clubs to develop robust policies by the 2024/25 season and comprehensive GHG emissions datasets by the 2025/26 season. Currently, six clubs publish their GHG emissions data, with more in the process.

For the fifth year, Sport Positive released this information as a report to share trends and encourage access to key data.
