sportanddev and Remedy partner to strengthen fundraising in sport for development

Fundraising remains a critical issue, and challenge, for individuals and organisations using sport to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and other objectives.
The recent Fundraising Practice in Sport for Good report reveals significant disparities in fundraising capacity and performance across the sport for development (SFD) sector.
Equity remains a major issue, with organisations in Europe and North America securing more funding and facing fewer risks, while Global South actors continue to face resource constraints and other challenges. 48% of European actors surveyed have an annual budget over £500,000 while 80% of those in Africa, Oceania and Latin America have budgets lower than £100,000.
While this issue is not limited to the SFD sector, it is important that more funding flows to actors in under-resourced regions. Addressing this issue requires concerted effort from stakeholders, including donor agencies, civil society, governments, NGOs and intergovernmental actors.
