In broadening our online footprint, sportanddev aims to reach new audiences in different parts of the world.

In June 2024, the International Platform on Sport and Development (sportanddev) took another step in broadening its digital reach by adding Instagram to its roster of social media platforms. The launch of our Instagram account aims to connect with a larger, more diverse audience and bring the global sport for development conversation to new heights.

A fresh perspective through visual storytelling

Our Instagram page has been a hub for showcasing sportanddev’s vision, impact and role through visual content and summarised information. Whether you’re a newcomer to sportanddev or have been following the platform since its inception in 2003, this new channel will expand your knowledge and share exciting information.

Strengthening the sportanddev community

Since the beginning, sportanddev has been committed to shining a spotlight on all news articles, events, learning tools and job opportunities related to sport for development. Since 2003, the platform has been the virtual home for individuals and organisations committed to using sport for positive social change and international development.

In addition to our presence on FacebookTwitter, and LinkedIn, the launch of our Instagram account will allow us to reach and engage with a broader audience.

Operated in four languages: ensuring more voices are heard

To make sportanddev’s global outreach truly inclusive, our Instagram page operates in four languages: English, French, Spanish, and Arabic. This multilingual approach ensures that all voices, regardless of language or region, can engage with and contribute in the field of sport for development. By breaking down language barriers, we aim to amplify the perspectives and stories of individuals and communities from every corner of the world.

A space for youth engagement

With so much happening at sportanddev, including wide-reaching calls for articles and spotlight series campaigns, we are excited to use Instagram to connect with younger audiences. The platform offers a space for youth worldwide to engage, share their thoughts, and take part in discussions about the future of sport for development.
