sportanddev reaches Facebook milestone
On 20 January 2013, sportanddev’s Facebook page reached 1,500 likes, a real milestone. The page was established in September 2010 and Facebook has been, and continues to be, a very useful way for us to share news, photographs, job postings and events. It’s a great way for those with an interest in sport for development to keep up to date with latest developments in the field.
It’s also an effective way for individuals and organisations in the sector to communicate with each other and with us. Central to the Platform’s mission is the role it plays as an online resource and networking tool, and Facebook helps us to achieve this purpose.
There are, of course, a number of other ways of using the Platform to engage with others in sport for development and keep up to date with what’s going on in the field. Via social media, you can follow us on:
Since sportanddev was founded in 2003, we’ve also seen a steady increase in community involvement through the website and fortnightly e-Newsletter. At the time of writing, the Platform had 2,903 Team Players registered to the site, as well as 451 organisations and 181 projects. Around 4,500 people are currently subscribed to our newsletter.
There’s a need for increased cooperation and communication between practitioners, researchers and others interested in sport for development. The Platform is facilitating this. Sign up as a Team Player to submit articles, connect with others and raise your visibility by creating organisation and project profiles.
Thank you to everyone who has helped us to grow our following on social media and in other ways over the years. We’re always looking for ways to improve, so if you have any feedback on any aspect of the Platform and its services, please get in touch.
