Sports programmes aid development of children at Rudhapadar
Students from the Gram Vikas Vidya Vihar school in Rudhapadar have showed great enthusiasm and excitement since Khel Vikas started its sports programmes.
Kho-Kho and volleyball are well-established in the school, while football is now capturing the interest of students to a large extent.
Sujith Senapathy joined as the principal of the school in November 2014 and he is happy that children are getting the opportunity to engage in sports regularly.
“I played sports in my college days and was also part of the National Cadet Corps (NCC). Personally, I was very happy to see that these students had a chance to experience the joy of playing sports. Some of the kids use the confidence that they get from playing sports and transfer that to the classroom,” said Sujith with delight.
There has been a lot of improvement in the students both on and off the field. With each day, more students are being proactive and upbeat in different activities.
We want to increase this number by increasing the time allotted for sports activities. Students who are now a regular part of our after-school programme are now looking to put in more time and effort in different sports.
To increase their exposure and confidence, the Khel Vikas team is planning to send students to local tournaments.
This serves as a platform for them to experience travelling to new destinations, meeting new people and sharing their stories with each other. As their interest in sport grow, so too will their overall development.
