Three organisations are recognised on the Beyond Sport shortlist for their efforts to keep children participating in sport safe.

The UNICEF Safeguarding Children in Sport Award recognises organisations that have undertaken a specific initiative or approach to make sport safer for children, and that have taken steps to make the delivery of their own or others' sporting activities with children safer. The 2017 nominees are organisations that deliver safe programmes to communities in three world regions.

Pass It Back - ChildFund Australia Laos, Philippines and Vietnam

Pass It Back is an innovative Sport for Development programme led by ChildFund Australia in partnership with World Rugby, Asia Rugby and Women Win that delivers an integrated life skills and rugby curriculum for children and young people in disadvantaged communities across Asia. Values of integrity, discipline, passion, respect and solidarity are conveyed through learning and playing the game. Pass It Back staff help youth and adults learn important life skills and work closely with governing bodies and local partners to deliver effective programmes. Child safeguarding is one of the key elements to Pass It Back, ensuring that children and youth not only enjoy what they are doing, but are kept physically and emotionally safe across all activities.

SafeStamp - Caribbean Sport and Development Agency Caribbean

SafeStamp is an initiative of the Caribbean Sport and Development Agency dedicated to helping safeguard children who participate in sport and physical activities. The programme provides resources and training to sport, physical education and recreational leaders, coaches and participants. Safeguarding Awareness Workshops, training for Designated Child Protection Officers, organisational assessments and advocacy work are just some of the services offered. SafeStamp also provides parents and family members with information and a space in which to voice their questions and concerns, and the programme maintains a database of all sport and physical activity programmes that meet the SafeStamp criteria.

Pacific Sports Partnerships Pacific Islands and Australia

The Pacific Sports Partnerships programme (PSP) consists of several sports initiatives funded by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. These programmes are designed to support both Australian national sporting organisations and their Pacific counterparts to deliver development priorities through sport alongside increased governance and capacity building in developing Pacific Island countries. The objectives of the PSP are to increase regular participation in physical activity, to improve health related behaviours and to promote inclusive social attitudes amongst their participants and wider communities. This is done through working with populations at the community level, including those who self-identify as having a disability, youth and emerging leaders, and women and girls.
