WHO is pleased to announce the publication of the final report Getting children moving using active video games: a report of the GenMove programme - an initiative undertaken as part of WHO collaboration on the Healthy FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 – Creating a Legacy for Sport and Health project.

This summary report outlines the rationale, development and evaluation of GenMove, an innovative Active Video Game (AVG) designed to engage more young people in physical activity through whole body movement games that can be played indoor or outdoor via a digital platform. GenMove fosters enjoyment and aimed to enhance both physical and mental health. Download the report to learn more about the key elements for success and the valuable learning which we hope will inform the growing field of AVG and digital health interventions.  WHO calls for more collaboration in this area as well as strengthening of the evidence, reach and impact.
