The cover page of an issue brief with the title: India’s progress on WHO’s GAPPA
The issue brief, first of a new series by the Sports and Society Accelerator, offers a mapping of India’s policies with the WHO’s guidelines.

The World Health Organization's 'Global Action Plan on Physical Activity 2018-2030' provides a clear framework to develop plans and targets as well as assess a country’s progress on physical activity.

In India, there’s a growing recognition of the broader value of physical activity, moving beyond just elite sports. Still, we are in the early stages of understanding the nuances and gaps within our policy landscape.

This brief offers an initial mapping of India’s policies with the WHO’s guidelines.

The brief is the first in a new series of issue briefs launched by the Sports and Society Accelerator (SSA). With them, SSA aims to shed light on foundational issues and questions surrounding sport and physical activity (SAPA), highlighting its immense potential for impact and contributing to development in India.
