Laureus Sport for Good Foundation has released its 2024 Impact Report.
The year saw more than 258,000 participants reached by efforts together with global and community partners in using sport as a tool for social change.
The 2024 Report highlights key six social focus areas aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal in health and wellbeing, education, inclusion, peacebuilding, employability and gender equity. Case studies complement each key area, demonstrating how Laureus-supported programmes of Associação Hurra!(Brazil), BlazeSports America, FAIR.STÄRKEN (Germany), FAME Foundation (Nigeria), ISF Cambodia and Justice Desk Africa are transforming young lives through sport. In total, Laureus has supported either through funding or in the delivery of more than 290 projects and initiatives across 36 countries and territories.
A significant milestone in 2024 was seeing more than 50 percent of direct participants impacted being girls and women, as Laureus has worked closely with partners to advance gender equity and help level the playing field for girls.
Throughout the year, Laureus has supported in the training of over 8,000 coaches and 45,000 teachers and parents; and engagement of 5,500 volunteers in sport for good activities. It's also building the next generation of sport for development leaders, with over 6,000 young people securing paid or voluntary positions in sport organisations.
Against a backdrop of global political instability, a growing youth mental health crisis and persistent inequalities, the role of sport has never been more vital. The Report demonstrates how sport is a cost-effective tool in driving meaningful change in the lives of young people and their communities.
