International organisation Peace and Sport, dedicated to building a more peaceful, equitable, and inclusive world through sport releases their report from the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace that took place on 6 April 2019
Peace and Sport is delighted to present its 6 April sixth edition report dedicated to the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace.
On 23 August 2013 the UN General Assembly with the support of the International Olympic Committee declared 6 April as the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (IDSDP) at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. This decision represented a historic step in recognising the transformative power of sport and its boundless potential to advance positive social change.
To celebrate the 6th International Day of Sport for Development and Peace on 6 April, Peace and Sport encouraged the international community to engage in activities to promote the positive values of sport. This record-breaking mobilisation resulted in 1,150 projects in 136 countries and 98 million people reached by the #WhiteCard campaign.
