Along with his brother Sean, Brendan founded PeacePlayers International (formerly Playing for Peace) in 2001.
PeacePlayers International is a Washington DC-based global organization that uses sports to unite and educate
young people.
In February 2008, Brendan and Sean received the prestigious Laureus Sport for Good Award, which
honors individuals who make a contribution to society through sport, at the ninth annual Laureus World Sports
Awards in St. Petersburg, Russia.
In October 2007, Brendan was recognized as one of “The 100 Most Influential Sports Educators in America” by
the Institute of International Sport, which also recognized Andre Agassi, Anita DeFrantz, Jackie Joyner-Kersee,
Billie Jean King, Mike Krzyzewski and Tiger Woods.
Brendan is a 1996 graduate of Colgate University where he majored in Philosophy and Religion and played
basketball.
Brendan serves as executive director of PeacePlayers International, which uses the game of basketball to unite and educate young people and their communities.
