Francis Mwalabu's Biography
My name is Francis Mwalabu. I am a Malawian national but currently living in the United States of America. I am the inventor and Founder of Gendaball Sport. Gendaball is a captivating game of target shooting, where players use one hand to propel a ball onto a target board featuring 16 holes of varying diameters. The game is played from a Court with four distance levels, offering a dynamic and engaging experience for participants. Gendaball is played both indoors and outdoors, by individuals or teams.
The sport requires both skill and strategy, making the game competitive yet accessible. It is designed to be inclusive, allowing participation from people of all ages, genders and abilities, including those with disabilities.
Gendaball has quickly become a prominent emerging sport in Malawi. Since its inception, it has captured the imagination of Malawians from diverse backgrounds. Its unique combination of athleticism, strategy, focus and entertainment has earned widespread acclaim, positioning it as a sport with significant potential for growth and popularity.
Equipment Required: ball (a little bigger than a tennis ball), target wall with holes of various sizes.
How to Play
A soft ball is thrown at a target board comprising 16 holes of varying sizes. Each hole has a different point scoring value. The bigger holes are easier to throw the ball through, and subsequently have a lower scoring value. There are 10 throwing stations, which vary the distance from the board and therefore affect the degree of difficulty. The score is calculated by multiplying the value of the hole by the value of the distance level from where the shot was taken. The Gendaball playing equipment has adequate space for carrying messages of peace and all manner of thematic messages for tackling social issues. The court can also be branded to include messages on various topical issues that affect society.
