Lombe Mwambwa's Biography

I work as Research Director at the Global Observatory for Gender Equality and Sport and I am a member of the Institute of Sport Sciences at University of Lausanne. I am part of the National Organisation for Women in Sport, Physical Activity and Recreation in Zambia (NOWSPAR). For about 20 years, I have been involved in the sport and sport for development sector in roles including community engagement, monitoring, advocacy, board service, and resource mobilisation.

I work on issues of inequality and development in Zambia and internationally. I am interested in understanding inequalities within sport and in sport as a means of addressing inequalities in society. My research, advocacy, and practice is focused on themes of safeguarding and protection in sport and on leadership within sport organisations. My doctoral research at the University of Chichester focused on the experiences of women leaders within sport organisations in the African Union Sports Council Region 5.
